If you're selling a product online then a common way to do it is by making a Squeeze Page. A squeeze page is basically a single web page that tells the viewer about the product, and puts enough good marketing copy in the page that the person ends up buying the product.

Here's more information about squeeze pages and how to go about creating your own high converting squeeze page. Whether you write your own squeeze page, buy one or use a free squeeze page template, you'll find some useful information here.

Making a squeeze page

First of all let me say that designing a squeeze page is harder than it looks! If you have the money, then seriously consider someone to design your squeeze page and write the copy!

Although people will buy online products from a poorly designed squeeze page, conversion rates can improve massively if your squeeze page is professionally designed. Professional squeeze page designers and copy writers are often cheaper than you think. One good place to find them is at the Warrior Forum (WarriorForum.com). Many squeeze page designers and copy writers are freelancers and some are based in emerging markets so they can offer prices that are lower than you could believe possible.

When buying a squeeze page or copy writing service, always ask to see examples of the person's previous work. It's often a good idea to find someone who is also at least vaguely familiar with your niche.

Another thing to remember is that a squeeze page should always be honest! Yes the marketing can be over the top. Yes you can put in hypnotic writing if you know how to. But just remember that you want to avoid too many psychological games or it could lead to buyer's remorse! You don't want your customer to be unhappy, as they could write a bad review or ask for a refund.

Finally remember that a squeeze page isn't always the best way of selling a product. If you're selling a product to a business then you're better off with a standard website with brochures, videos, downloads, whitepapers and other marketing materials. Squeeze pages aren't the only way of selling a product - don't forget that article marketing is also very effective. Just make sure your buy now button is visible on your article pages.

What to put in a squeeze page

Many squeeze pages are used by people who have affiliates marketing their products for them. If you want a squeeze page for an eBook or guide you're marketing via ClickBank for example, you should probably assume that the customer viewing the page is already vaguely familiar with what your product or service is about. They have probably searched for something on Google, then found an affiliate's article about it, then followed a hop link to your squeeze page. Much of the hard work is already done! The customer is interested in your product! All you have to do is to pursuade them to buy!

A squeeze page should basically follow the formula of a problem (e.g. back pain) and a solution ("no more back pain with our exclusive guide!").

Throughout the squeeze page you should keep stressing the benefits to the customer of your product. The customer is not interested in your back pain, they are interested in THEIR back pain.

If you can put them it, it's great to add videos to your squeeze pages. Videos are very effective at selling products!

Testimonials are useful if you have them. Make sure the testimonials are genuine!

Sometimes people like to put offers in their squeeze pages. The get rich quick niche is especially fond of these offers. While throwing in extra "free" gifts for the customer is sometimes nice, don't overdo it. I once bought a marketing guide that had at least half a dozen freebies. It was all a bit much really.

The other important thing is that you should only offer free stuff it is is closely related to your main product.

Squeeze page tutorials

Here's a useful video showing a squeeze page tutorial:

Although a tutorial shows you how to build your own squeeze page, just be aware that creating a squeeze page is harder than it looks. If you have the budget then you might be better off getting a professional to make one for you. Since a squeeze page is just a single web page with a fairly basic design, it doesn't normally cost that much to get one created for your product.

Squeeze page templates

Squeeze page templates are useful if you want to design your own squeeze page but don't know where to start.

Free squeeze page templates

If you want to get hold of some free squeeze page templates then try PremiumSqueezeTemplates.com. If you visit their site then they have a number of free templates that you can use for your own squeeze pages.

I used one of their free templates on my squeeze page for my guide to making money on HubPages. I found it was really easy to change the heading text and insert my own copy into the page template. A basic knowledge of HTML helped me out - it's also possible to edit the templates in any HTML editor application.

However, if you want to build a squeeze page that looks unique for your own particular product then I recommend that you get a company to design you a custom squeeze page. Most squeeze page producers can also design other graphics that you might need such as buttons, software box and DVD/CD-ROM mock-ups and all kinds of other useful graphics.

Squeeze page A/B testing

So you've written your squeeze page. How do you know how effective it is at converting leads into customers? A good way to test your squeeze page conversion is to do A/B testing. This basically means you create multiple versions of your squeeze page, then test the conversion rates of each version.

It's possible to test different squeeze pages using Google AdWords. Google Analytics also has some sophisticated analysis tools for measuring squeeze page performance.

I hope this information helps you with your squeeze page creation. Don't forget that once your squeeze page is created it's not the end of the story. A good squeeze page should be constantly refined in order to increase conversion rates and customer satisfaction.

Thanks for explaining what I should put in a squeeze page. I've never created one until now. After I'm done writing this comment I'm going to try and create on.
